Mandala Mediation Stones

My Process for Painting Them

  • pick out the stones to be painted
  • wash stones, let dry
  • determine which stones will be painted over the entire stone, and which ones will be partially painted
  • determine the primer color (for my current batches, some wanted black and others wanted white)
  • paint stones with primer coat
  • one by one, paint the stones (this is the only non-methodical, go-with-the-flow part of this whole process…and obviously the longest part)
  • one by one, determine each stone’s word or phrase
  • on the back of each stone, write it’s word/phrase, sign it, and add the year
  • once the stones are dry, spray and let dry two coats of artist quality varnish on all sides
  • let sit overnight
  • one by one add a coat of liquid varnish to the top side of each stone
  • 1.5 hrs later, turn the stones over to add a coat of liquid varnish to the bottoms
  • 1.5 hrs later, re-coat the top sides
  • 1.5 hrs later, turn the stones over to add a coat of liquid varnish to the bottoms
  • 1.5 hrs later, re-coat the top sides
  • 1.5 hrs later, turn the stones over to add a coat of liquid varnish to the bottoms
  • 1.5 hrs later, re-coat the top sides
  • 1.5 hrs later, turn the stones over to add a coat of liquid varnish to the bottoms
  • photograph the front and back sides of each stone
  • edit photos
  • upload and add to web site

Primarily I use acrylic paint, alcohol inks, gel pens, and/or paint pens and coat each stone with multiple coats of artist quality indoor/outdoor gloss varnish, giving them a smooth, shiny surface, a delight to behold and to hold.

Like us, they love to be held. The smaller-sized stones comfortably fit into pockets and smaller spaces, making them very portable and easy reminders to their message to us.

How to Use the Stones

  • Carry it with you in your pocket or purse as a reminder of its message.
  • {lace it in close proximity to your work or study space.
  • Hold them as you allow yourself a moment to breathe and connect with the stone’s energy to help you be more present in the moment. Set an intention to receive insights as to how best to move forward.
  • Place it on one of your chakra points that could use some balancing.
  • Place it under your pillow or by your head as you sleep with the intention of receiving insights or guidance from the stone through your dreams.
  • Sit with the stone to let it tell you how it wants to be used; the answer could be different each time you check in.

After any of your stone meditations, journal about your experience and the information received. You may prefer to do a creative activity instead to commemorate the experience, such as draw, color, dance, garden, sing/play/write a song, go for a walk, bake a cake, or work on a project. Doing this helps transform the information from energy into form.
