Limiting Beliefs — in brief

I don’t know about you, but, of late, this topic keeps coming up for me and how they adversely affect me/us.

A limiting belief (LB) is like a mental barrier that holds you back from achieving your full potential. It’s a thought or conviction that you accept as true, but it restricts you from exploring new opportunities or reaching your goals.

To give you an idea as to what they are, here are three common ones:

  1. I’m not good enough“: This belief can hinder self-confidence and prevent individuals from pursuing their dreams or taking risks.
  2. I don’t deserve success“: This belief can lead to feelings of unworthiness and sabotage efforts to achieve success or happiness.
  3. I’ll never be able to change“: This belief can create a fixed mindset, making it difficult to adapt to new challenges or grow as a person.

One way that can help change your perspective about your LB would be to reply to the following prompt by either journaling, coloring a mandala, or doing a Doodle Mandala with the intention of receiving insight into its answer:

“What evidence do I have that contradicts this belief?”

This prompt encourages us to challenge our LB and help shift our perspective, opening up possibilities for positive change.

Easy, right? Let’s do it!

Many Blessings,

Maureen
